Disabilities in children



Disability in children is a wide term used to describe presence of any physical, mental l, or developmental condition that limits their ability to perform daily activities like other fellows. Disability in a baby can occur at the birth time or then at any stage of life due to multiple factors. It can affect his or her education, psychological development and socialization. Let’s have a quick look on type of disabilities commonly seen in children along its impact on their life. 
Physical Disabilities Some common types of disabilities falling in this category include cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, and limb differences. These all are specific medical terms and would be discussed in some other article. Overall, all children facing any of such conditions have limitations in movability either in shape of walking, running, or to engage in any other physical activity. Such disabilities need not limit a child's potential. Nowa assistive devices such as wheelchairs, prosthetics, and braces are available to help them to participate in activities, move and increase comfort. 
Mental Disabilities Such disabilities refer to conditions that affect a child's cognitive functioning, including their ability to learn, reason, and problem-solve. The severity can vary in patients. Such disabilities are also written as Intellectual disabilities in medical books. Common causes include genetic factors, brain injury, and infections during pregnancy. Children diagnosed with any of such disability require specialized education programs and support to reach their full potential.

Developmental Disabilities Children experiencing developmental disabilities have constraints and limitations including their ability to communicate, interact with others, and perform daily living activities. Some common developmental disabilities include autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and speech and language disorders. Prompt action by parents on symptoms of such diseases and then regular medical support can help children in gaining confidence and make better use of their abilities.

Sensory Disabilities These are particular to conditions of children with weak senses, including vision, hearing, and touch. Such disabilities do effect education and can lead to isolation of children. However, assistive devices such as hearing aids, cochlear implants, braille and special spectacles help children in playing better role in life. 

Behavioral Disabilities Some common behavioral and emotional disabilities include anxiety disorders, depression, and conduct disorder. The severity of such disabilities largely depends on circumstances and environment around patient and reaction to conditions vary from patient to patient. Life and comfort of parents with such disabled children is very much effected than others. It has been observed that often such parents also need medical as well as psychological support along their children. The impact of disabilities on children's onward life can be significant, and thus have to face challenges in education, employment, and socialization. However, with the right support, children with disabilities can lead a better and independent lives.
